The porcelain manufacturer was founded in 1887 in Arzberg, Bavaria. In 1931, Hermann Gretsch designed Form 1382 for it, and in 1953 Heinz Löffelhardt designed the Arzberg 2000 series. Lutz Rabold’s ‘City’ pattern dates from around 1980–1985. The Victoria and Albert Museum holds 26 objects by the brand dating from 1931–1985, including 13 in Form 1382.
From 1972–2000, the Arzberg mark belonged to Hutschenreuther AG. From 1993, the factory operated as part of SKV-Porzellan-Union, and from 2004 as Arzberg-Porzellan GmbH; the brand now belongs to Rosenthal.
