The company was founded on 15 April 1894 by engineer Christian Bergh (1868–1952) as Chr Bergh elektriska byrå in Malmö. In its first years, it produced telephone and lightning-protection installations; from 1896, it carried out electrical and lighting installations, including at the Mattssonska brewery and Teschska Palace in Malmö.
The company manufactured local power stations, electrical apparatus, installation equipment, cables, light bulbs and lighting fixtures. From 1917, it had factories in Svalöv and branches in the Nordic countries. In 1925, it was transformed, and from 1930 it belonged to the Asea group; it later operated under the name Cebe.
