Silversmith Georg Jensen (1866–1935), born in Rådvad, opened his silver workshop in Copenhagen at Bredgade in 1904. The company quickly expanded abroad: it opened shops in Berlin (1909), London (1921) and New York (1924), and won a gold medal in Brussels (1910) and the Grand Prix (1915) at exhibitions.
After the war, designers for Georg Jensen included Henning Koppel, who worked with the company from 1945 and designed the Caravel cutlery (1957), as well as Sigvard Bernadotte, Søren Georg Jensen, Magnus Stephensen and Nanna Ditzel. Jens Quistgaard began his career at Georg Jensen.
From 1972, the company belonged to Royal Copenhagen, then to the Axcel (2001) and Investcorp (2012) funds, and since 2023 has been part of the Fiskars group.
