The company’s origins date back to 1872, when August Alboth founded a porcelain decorating factory in Coburg. The name AL-KA was formed by combining the surnames Alboth and Kaiser. In 1938, the company took over the Silbermann factory in Hausen, and in 1951 it operated as AL-KA Kunst Alboth & Kaiser KG. In 1970, the name was changed to Kaiser-Porzellanmanufaktur Staffelstein KG.

Post-war products were successively marked with the stamps “Alka Kunst Bavaria”, “Alka Alboth & Kaiser Bavaria”, the AK monogram with a crown, and the “AK Kaiser W. Germany” mark. In 2000, the company filed for bankruptcy, and in 2001 it underwent restructuring with the participation of PM Kapital.
