Lystager Industri originates from the company founded by Hjalmara Lystagera (1878–1958). According to the Viby lokalhistoriske Arkiv (Viby Local History Archive), his first premises operated at Hjelmensgade from 1922 to 1924, and the first factory in Viby was established in 1925. From 1935, Hj. Lystager A/S occupied premises at Ormslevvej 2; from 1965 to 1970, it operated as Hj. Lystager Industri A/S.
Surviving brochures and instructions concern mattress materials, steel springs and their assembly, Epeda mattresses and foam: in 1962, Lystadun foam was tested, while “Lystanell” inserts for furniture cushions were also advertised in English. In the 1980s, Lystager Industri’s production was located in Hornslet at Sortevej 8.
