Ludwig Moser founded an engraving workshop and shop in Karlovy Vary in 1857. Following the 1873 World's Fair in Vienna, the company became a supplier to Emperor Franz Joseph I, and in 1878 obtained a privilege for relief decoration with enamel and gold. In 1893, its own glassworks was established in Dvory, along with the company Ludwig Moser & Synowie.
Leo Moser became technical director in 1908 and artistic director in 1916; the Splendid series was created in 1911. In 1923, the glassworks made a collection for Pope Pius XI, and in 1940, vases designed by Wolfgang von Wersin won the Grand Prize at the Milan Triennale. In 1938, the Moser family had to sell its shares and leave the country, and the works were taken over by the state.
In 1958, Moser received the Grand Prix at the World's Fair in Brussels. At that time, designers including Věra Lišková, Adolf Matura, Jiří Harcuba and Miluše Roubíčková designed for the glassworks, as did Stanislav Libenský and René Roubíček during the socialist period. Since 2000, Moser has made the Crystal Globe – the main award of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
