Rolf Rastad and Adolf Relling founded Rastad & Relling Tegnekontor in Oslo in 1943. Relling (1913–2006), born in Sykkylven and educated at Statens håndverks- og kunstindustriskole, ran the design studio, while Rastad ran a furniture shop at Klingenberggaten 4.
In 1946, Relling and Fredrik A. Kayser designed the Kaminstolen armchair, produced by Arnestad Bruk. From the mid-1950s, Gustav Bahus manufactured the Bambi series (model 56/1 from 1955). Other designs by the studio include Blinken (1956), the Syklus table (1962) and Futurum (1965). The studio collaborated, among others, with Sigurd Resell, Torbjørn Bekken and Arne Halvorsen.
Rastad & Relling furnished the Storting building, Norway's parliament, which was expanded in the 1950s, as well as the royal yacht Norge. Objects by the studio are held in the collections of Nasjonalmuseet in Oslo.
