In 1926, Carl Auböck II (1900–1957), who had studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar, took over and reformed his father Karl Heinrich Auböck’s (1872–1925) workshop. The premises have been located on Bernardgasse in Vienna since 1912. After Carl II’s death in 1957, the workshop was run by Carl Auböck III (1924–1993), an industrial designer and architect, together with his wife Justine. Today, the workshop is run by Carl Auböck IV and Maria Auböck.

Products were made from bronze, brass, horn, bone, leather and fur. In 1957, Carl Auböck III designed the “2060” cutlery in forged and polished stainless steel, produced by Neuzeughammer Ambosswerk; the set is held in the Victoria and Albert Museum collection.
