Description
Folk Relief, 19th Century
A unique antique wooden piece featuring a deeply carved depiction of a rider on horseback, set in a sturdy wooden frame. A decorative object in a distinctive folk style, with a beautiful, naturally aged surface.
The relief depicts a stylised rider in historical attire, riding a horse amid decorative floral motifs. The entire piece was executed using a distinctive deep woodcarving technique, giving the motif a three-dimensional and expressive character.
The piece makes an excellent wall decoration and will be particularly well suited to vintage, rustic, folk, collectors’ and eclectic interiors.
The form and craftsmanship call to mind the tradition of old wooden confectionery moulds, used, among other things, to make decorative baked goods such as gingerbread and speculoos. Considering its subsequent use and condition, it is now regarded primarily as a decorative collectible.
Condition: good for its age and character. Numerous visible signs of use, scuffs, chips and cracks in the surface layer, as well as natural signs of use. These features give the piece an authentic, decorative character.
A unique piece for collectors of antique moulds, folk art and wall decorations.
