Porcelain plate, Weimar Porzellan, Germany, 1970s
Porcelain plate from the Hawai series, manufactured by the German porcelain maker Weimar Porzellan in the 1970s. The plate has a convex triangular form with gently rounded edges. A subtle pattern against a blue and pink background adds lightness to the piece.
Weimar Porzellan is a German company that began producing porcelain in 1790. At that time, it also received a royal concession to manufacture porcelain. Since then, high-quality porcelain has been produced in accordance with the highest standards. It embodies the spirit of the classical age of Weimar, with its desire for harmony and beauty. Refined craftsmanship, attention to detail and a rich tradition contributed to the company’s long-standing success. Classic tableware from the KATHARINA, CHATEAU and BELVEDERE series remains appreciated to this day. The name Weimar Porzellan still represents one of the oldest and most beautiful companies producing handmade porcelain in Germany and Europe. In January 2007, Könitz Porzellan GmbH acquired Weimar Porzellan. The company’s managing director and owner today is Turpin Rosenthal, who represents the sixth generation of his family to be actively involved in the porcelain industry.
The plate has been preserved in its original vintage condition.
