Vintage brass bookends, 1970s

Description

Pair of decorative brass bookends.
A unique pair of brass bookends in the shape of stylized ducks, designed as both a decorative and functional object.

The bookends feature a striking, sculptural design – the duck silhouettes are rendered in a distinctive, slightly stylized manner, with elongated bills and elegantly curved necks.
The brass surface has a natural, warm golden patina and visible signs of wear that highlight the item’s vintage character.

The design is both decorative and practical – placed on either side of a stack of books, the bookends stabilize the books while creating a highly attractive display on a shelf, desk, or in a library.

Dating
Probably the second half of the 20th century, approx. 1960–1980.

Condition
Good vintage condition, with natural patina and signs of use. Minor scratches, scuffs, and subtle changes to the brass surface resulting from age and use are visible. The bases are protected on the underside.
The condition is clearly visible in the photographs.
