Vintage shell armchairs, Lubuskie Fabryki Mebli Świebodzin, PRL, 1970s

A pair of “Fabian” shell armchairs was manufactured by Lubuskie Fabryki Mebli in Poland in the 1970s. Their shells were made of fibreglass, allowing for a distinctive sculptural silhouette with integrated, curved armrests.
The rounded, deep Space Age-style seats are set on slender, turned wooden legs, which lend visual lightness to their solid form.
The armchairs have been reupholstered in bouclé fabric in shades of pink, beige and cream.
The armchairs have undergone a full professional restoration.
