Description

Pair of Mid-Century Modern armchairs, Poland, 1950s

The armchairs were manufactured in Poland in the 1950s.
Upholstered bucket chairs with a shell-shaped backrest and prominent wooden armrests, on rounded beech legs.
These armchairs are distinguished by a beautiful, rounded and slightly “peaked” backrest shape, which harmonises with the upturned armrests, fully reflecting the aesthetics of the Mid-Century Modern period.
It is also worth noting their larger size, quite unusual for similar cocktail chairs.
The chairs may have been made in factories in the town of Swarzędz, where models with a similar construction and aesthetic were produced.
The pair has undergone wood restoration and been reupholstered in a velvet fabric with a subtle sheen.
This is a very rare model on the market.
