Arne Clausen was born in 1923 and died in 1977. At the beginning of the 1950s, he was employed by the Norwegian company Cathrineholm A/S, where he was involved in producing utilitarian and decorative objects made of transparent enamel on stainless steel.
In 1963, he designed the ‘lotus’ pattern in his spare time, which Cathrineholm used to decorate a series of new products in the 1960s. The pattern was also used under licence by the Danish manufacturer Lyngby Porcelæn, and in 2012 the Danish company Lucie Kaas revived it on ceramic bowls in collaboration with the Clausen family.
