Cees Braakman was associated with the Utrecht furniture manufacturer UMS Pastoe, where he trained. He worked there in management, procurement and design, and from 1950 to 1978 as deputy director and designer.
The Centraal Museum in Utrecht holds his SB02 chair (model 152) from 1950, made by UMS Pastoe from furniture board and birch plywood. According to the museum description, the design was inspired by the work of Charles Eames and was produced in many variants; the chair was shown at the exhibition “Ideaal! wonen. Van Gerrit Rietveld tot Dutch Design” (2002–2003). Braakman received a Triennale diploma in Milan (1957), a Gouden Kenteken distinction in Brussels (1960) and the B.K.I. award (1968).
