Ico Parisi was born on 23 September 1916 in Palermo and died on 19 December 1996 in Como. He obtained a diploma in construction and completed an internship at Giuseppe Terragni’s practice; in 1937, he produced a photographic study of Casa del Fascio for the magazine “Quadrante”. In 1948, he founded the “La ruota” studio with his wife Luisa Aiani; it operated until 1995. In 1951, he met Bruno Munari and Lucio Fontana; Fausto Melotti had a significant influence on him.
At the 10th Milan Triennale (1954), he received a gold medal for Padiglione soggiorno, created with S. Longhi and L. Antonietti. As an architect, he designed, among other projects, his own house and studio in Como (1958), the ACI headquarters in Como (1963) and the Chamber of Commerce in Ferrara (1964). The designer’s legacy is held by Fondo Ico e Luisa Parisi at Pinacoteca civica in Como – approximately 1,000 technical drawings, 2,500 sketches and 38,000 negatives.
