Poul Cadovius was a Danish furniture designer. In 1945, he founded Royal System, and his name is associated above all with suspended shelving systems.
His best-known design is Royal System, dated 1948 – a wall-mounted system in which shelves and cabinets are hung on vertical uprights, allowing the configuration to be expanded as required. Cadovius's subsequent designs include System Ultra from 1957 and System Cado from 1960.
The name Cado is sometimes given as the manufacturer of Royal System, but this is not confirmed by the sources – System Cado was a separate, later design.
