Willy Van Der Meeren lived from 1923 to 2002. In 1948, he graduated from La Cambre in Brussels, where his teacher was Louis Herman De Koninck. At the beginning of the 1950s, he began collaborating with Tubax, which produced his wall lamp in 1953, designed jointly with Jean Stuyvaert; one example is held in the collection of the Brussels Design Museum. In 1957, his C1 chair was shown at the Tubax stand during the Salons Nationaux du Meuble Moderne. As an architect, he designed residential buildings, including the CECA houses (1955) and the social housing estate ‘Ieder Zijn Huis’ (1962).
