Senator teak armchair designed by Ole Wanscher, manufactured by Cado in Denmark in the 1960s, is an excellent example of mature Scandinavian modernism. Wanscher’s designs were distinguished by their calm lines, excellent proportions and strong sensitivity to materials — qualities that continue to define the finest Danish design.

The frame is made of solid teak with a warm tone and pronounced grain, preserved in its original very good condition with only minimal signs of use in the form of minor scratches. Characteristic features of this model include subtly shaped armrests and a light, open frame that gives the armchair an elegant yet understated character. The seat and backrest have been newly upholstered in beige fabric made from recycled wool.

Stylistically, the model belongs to the mid-century modern tradition — free of unnecessary decoration, with an emphasis on function, ergonomics and timeless proportions. Wanscher often drew inspiration from classic European furniture, simplifying the form into a modern, visually light structure. As a result, his designs are elegant while also being highly practical.
