Madde Studio was founded by Maja Górowska, Karolina Koryniowska and Kamila Potocka — graduates of Interior Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. They completed their master’s degrees in 2017, creating a joint diploma project entitled “ILES”, which was selected for the exhibition “MY’17. Best Diplomas of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław”. In 2018, the ILES furniture collection was presented during Milan Design Week. That same year, Madde Studio was formed, creating numerous residential interior projects, as well as commercial interiors and product collections.

Outside work, they share not only a friendship, but also similar values and a passion for historic residential architecture. Each of them has renovated her own apartment in a tenement building, gaining valuable experience that they draw on in their work.

In their work, they value timeless solutions using natural materials. They are not advocates of impulsively following trends. In their projects, they seek balance, good composition and quality. When designing commercial interiors, they value the opportunity to take a holistic approach to building a brand. They particularly enjoy projects that allow them to develop an entire concept for a place, including its name and visual identity.

When designing private interiors, they like projects to include areas that are deliberately left open-ended. It is important to them to leave room for evolution and for things to be added over time — things that carry value and meaning for the people who live there. They are advocates of furnishing with second-hand pieces. For them, choosing used objects is both a conscious, environmentally responsible decision and an exceptionally valuable one. Furniture by outstanding designers that still looks great and remains fully functional after years of use is, in their view, a far better choice than new furnishings, whose quality can often be questionable, especially when working with a modest budget. In addition, second-hand pieces bring original objects with the potential to create a unique character for an interior.

Here is Madde Studio’s selection — a collection of vintage objects that best reflects their approach to quality and timeless design.
